Intangible Cultural Heritage Innovation Exhibition Stainless Steel Pheasant Canary Sculpture forest

This sculpture forest takes the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) as its spiritual core, integrating the pheasant in Eastern culture with the canary, a symbol of freedom in the West, and achieving cross-cultural dialogue through the industrial texture of stainless steel. The long tail feathers of the Pheasant Canary Sculpture are deconstructed into stacked metal sheets, and the surface is laser-engraved to reproduce traditional paper-cut or cloisonné patterns; the shape of the Pheasant Canary Sculpture is abstracted into a streamlined mirror structure, and the beak is inlaid with a rotatable micro-mechanical device. When it calls, it triggers the sound and light device to play intangible cultural heritage opera clips or ventriloquist bird call recordings. The design of the Pheasant Canary Sculpture not only retains the auspicious meanings of the two birds in their respective cultures (the pheasant represents nobility, and the canary symbolizes hope), but also challenges the stereotype that “intangible cultural heritage must be handmade and authentic” through material replacement.
